In the short story A tidy composition Is weighed down to Find, written by Flannery OConnor, the theme of the mysterious comment of a reasoned man is apparent. The true translation of a good man is flawed, but one must also realize that it is problematical to universalize simply because every person is entitled to their own opinion. OConnor conveys this theme through her excellent use of diction, imagery, foreshadowing, and symbolism as wellhead as through a seminal use of repetition and an omniscient point of view.The granny, the main character of the story, is manipulative, and in a sense, the definition of a good man is referring to her belief of what characteristics a good man possesses. From the beginning, the contributor is given the indication that the grandmother is determined to get what she wants and will do whatever she can to do so. And, from the second line of the story, OConnor suggests that anything the grandmother says might have an alternative motive. The g randmother didnt want to go to Florida. She wanted to visit some of her connections in east Tennessee and she was seizing at every chance to change Baileys mind (1284). When the grandmother mentions that she doesnt want to go to Florida, her son Bailey assumes its because of the Misfit killer who has escaped from prison. However, in actuality, she wanted to visit other family and friends in Tennessee. Throughout the story, OConnor uses fictive words and phrases as well as figurative language to assist keep the ref engaged. For example, when the family is driving, OConnor makes it a point to thoroughly cite the area, which they are passing through. In A Good Man Is Hard to Find, OConnor gives brilliant support to the theme, even discharge so far as stat ing it in the title itself. Through her creative details and intentional use of rhetoric, OConnor strengthens the idea that the true definition of a good man is skewed and difficult to pinpoint. Defining a good man varies because it is individualized from reader to reader and a generic definition cannot be composed.
